Northern Kentucky to host KY Elks Convention; Cold Spring man to be installed as president


Bill Frommeyer of Cold Spring will be installed as state president at the Kentucky Elks Convention in February.

Northern Kentucky will host the 114th Kentucky Elks Convention, Feb. 25 through Feb. 28 at Newport Elks Lodge #273 in Cold Spring, where Frommeyer is a member. The lodge is located at 3704 Alexandria Pike.

About 200 members from around the state are expected to attend. Among the dignitaries slated to appear are the former National President (known as the Grand Exalted Ruler) Lester Hess of Wheeling, West Virginia and current West Virginia State President Jackie Barlow.

Frommeyer will be sworn in as the new State President, Saturday morning February 27 at 10:30 am. He has been a member of the local lodge for 46 years during which he has served as the Past President (Past Exalted Ruler) and Past District Deputy. He has been the local Hoop Shoot Chairman for 35 years and was a past East State chairman of Scholarships.

Frommeyer’s latest role will put him in the position of State Public Relations Chairman and he will conduct all of the business of the State Association. He will visit all of the 16 Elks lodges throughout Kentucky during the next 12 months.

The Order of Elks is a non-profit service organization with the Newport lodge principally serving the Fort Thomas veterans and all high schools in Campbell County, whose students receive $16,000 in scholarships annually.

Frommeyer resides in Cold Spring with his wife Kathy, and is retired from the United States Postal Service.
