No. 1-ranked Thomas More College’s women’s basketball team placed 16 players in the scoring column Wednesday in a 104-43 win over Bethany College in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills.
With the win, the Saints remain undefeated at 19-0 overall and 13-0 in the PAC. Thomas More has won 52 games in a row overall. The Bison fall to 8-12 overall and 6-7 in the PAC.

Thomas More jumped out to a 9-2 lead when freshman guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) made a lay-up with 7:41 to play in the first quarter. Bethany answered with an 11-4 run to tie the game at 13-13 with 4:30 to play in the first quarter when Ashley Duthie made a jumper.
The Saints closed out the quarter on an 11-2 run to take a 24-15 lead after one quarter when junior forward Kirsten Paul (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Christian) made a jumper with four-seconds to play in the quarter.
The Saints out-scored the Bison 32-5 in the second quarter to lead 56-20 at halftime, 30-8 in the third quarter to lead 86-28 and 18-15 in the fourth quarter for the final score of 104-43.
Thomas More had a 42-10 advantage in points in the paint, 44-5 off turnovers and forced 35 Bison turnovers.
Temple and sophomore guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) led the team in scoring with 18 points each, while senior guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) added 16 points.
Senior forward Samantha Cady (St. Anthony, Minn./St. Anthony Village) led the team on the boards with seven rebounds, while Moss led the team in assists with eight.
Thomas More returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Thiel College at 1 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
Saints’ men fall to Bethany in double overtime
The Thomas More College men’s basketball team fell 95-89 in double overtime to Bethany College Wednesday in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game.
With the loss, the Saints fall to 12-8 overall and 9-4 in the PAC while the Bison improve to 13-7 overall and 9-4 in the PAC.
Bethany jumped out to an early 17-9 lead when Antonio Rudolph made a jumper with 14:18 left in the game. The Saints answered with a 22-8 run to capped by a lay-up by junior forward/center Simon Clifford (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) to take a 31-25 lead with 3:29 to play in the opening half. The Bison closed out the half on a 9-6 run to cut the lead to 37-34 at halftime when Calique Jones made a lay-up with three-seconds to play in the opening half.
Thomas More opened the second half on a 23-10 to build a 60-44 lead with 8:54 to play in regulation when junior guard Sawyer Pauly (Crescent Springs, Ky./Covington Catholic) made one-of-two free-throws. Bethany closed out the second half on a 29-13 run to force overtime at 73-73 when Andrew Williams made two free-throws with 23-seconds to play in regulation.
Bethany opened the first overtime on a 5-0 run to take a 78-73 lead on a Javonte’ Trujillow three-pointer with 3:37 to play in the first overtime. Thomas More answered with an 11-3 run to take an 84-81 lead with 20-seconds to play in the overtime when sophomore guard Corey Howard (Gahanna, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) made a three-pointer. Bethany’s Jerron Athey made a three-pointer with four-seconds to play in the overtime period to force a second overtime at 84-84. The Bison out-scored the Saints 11-5 in the second overtime for the 95-89 victory.
Freshman guard Ryne Callahan (Morehead, Ky./Rowan County) led the team in scoring with a game-high-tying 29 points. He was joined in double-figure scoring by Clifford with 18 points, freshman guard Brandon Horne (Louisville, Ky./Male) with 12 points and Howard with 11 points. Horne completed a double-double with a game-high 11 rebounds, while Clifford led the team in assists with four.
Thomas More returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Thiel College at 3 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
