Northern Kentucky men kick into homestretch, face Wright State in first road test


The homestretch of the 2015-16 regular season for the Northern Kentucky men’s basketball team opens at Wright State on Saturday. The 7 p.m. contest kicks off a three-game road trip for the Norse that will conclude the regular season.

• NKU rallied late for a second-straight game, but fell short, 74-68, to Detroit on Senior Night.
• Seniors Jalen Billups, Jared Bryant, Jack Flournoy, Jake Giesler, Todd Johnson and Tyler White were honored prior to the Detroit game.
• NKU travels an hour north for a Saturday evening tilt with Horizon League-rival Wright State.

• G Cole Murray has made 56.4 percent (31-of-55) of his threes in the last nine games.
• Murray has had the hot hand from long range, shooting 47.2% (68-of-144) from behind the arc this year, No. 7 in the nation.
• F Drew McDonald is a two-time #HLMBB Freshman of the Week recipient and is averaging 12.5 points and 7.6 rebounds in league games.
• McDonald registered his fourth double-double of the year and second against Detroit with 13 points, 11 rebounds versus the Titans Tuesday.
• G Lavone Holland II is third on the team in scoring (11.0 ppg) and rebounds (4.9 rpg), but leads NKU in assists (4.0 apg).
• White (96) and Holland (100) are on pace to give NKU two players with 100 assists or more for the first time since the 2011-12 season.
