Kentucky’s Community & Technical College System’s annual Super Sunday today is expected to draw nearly 50,000 participants to nearly 200 faith organizations in community across the state.
The organizations are hosting information fairs for prospective college students and their families to hear about what the community and technical colleges can offer.
uper Sunday is an annual Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) statewide initiative intended for African-American and Latino students and other “under-represented” populations and their families. The event provides information and resources to support college admissions and enrollment.
As part of this initiative, a Super Sunday Hall of Fame has been established, highlighting outstanding students.

Gateway is partnering with the First Baptist Church and Centro de Amistad in Florence.
And Gateway is honoring Naseem Mohedin as its newest member of the Super Sunday Hall of Farm.
Mohedin works part-time in the e-learning department and has organized and led the Creators Network, a student group that creates anything from ugly Christmas sweaters to fleece hats. She enjoys volunteering at Big Brothers and Big Sisters and has a passion for helping women and children. Mohedin is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the National Technical Honors Society.
“I have a vision to bring education to the world. My vision became my mission at Gateway Community and Technical College, where staff, faculty and other students cared about the same things I did,” said Mohedin. “I believe that education is from the cradle to the grave, and success begins and ends with community. I am Gateway, and I am proud to be part of a community that is united in education.”
