The 9th Region boys’ basketball tournament resumes Friday when the final two first-round games will be played at BB&T Arena on the campus of Northern Kentucky University.
The matchups are Newport Central Catholic vs. Cooper at 6:30 p.m. and Dixie Heights vs. Holy Cross at 8 p.m. The winners will face each other in the lower bracket semifinal game at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Covington Catholic and Conner won first-round games on Tuesday and will meet in the upper bracket semifinal at 1 p.m. Sunday. CovCath took the regional title the last two years and established itself as the favorite in this year’s field by winning its last 16 games.
The Scott boys’ basketball team’s first-round game in the 10th Region tournament was cancelled Thursday due to dangerous driving conditions. Scott will play Augusta at 1 p.m. Saturday at Montgomery County High School.
