Chief Assistant County Attorney Cameron Blau has announced his plans to file for the unexpired term for the Campbell County District Court Judgeship vacated by retired Judge Greg Popovich.
“One evening, many years ago,” said Mr. Blau, “during my first year of law school, I received a phone call expecting it to be my father, Bernie Blau. However, instead of hearing my father’s voice, I heard what would eventually become a very familiar voice, Judge Greg Popovich, who was out with my father and wanted to know what I was doing in law school and jokingly suggested the medical field as a more lucrative and intelligent alternative.

“Now, almost 17 years past that unexpected phone call, I would never have guessed that I would have spent the last ten years as an Assistant County Attorney practicing in front of Judge Popovich, and I truly wish him all the best in his retirement.”
Cameron Blau is a lifelong resident of Campbell County, son of attorney Bernard J. Blau (deceased), and grandson of Edward J. Blau (deceased), former Campbell Circuit Court Clerk. Blau is currently the Chief Assistant County Attorney for Campbell County and has been responsible for the Criminal Division for the past ten years. In addition, Mr. Blau serves as the City Attorney for Silver Grove.
Blau currently resides in Alexandria with his wife, Marla Twehues Blau, and their two young sons, Logan and Colin.
Blau was awarded the 2010 Assistant County Attorney of the Year and the 2011 Recognition Award for Outstanding Service in the Protection of Elders at Risk of Abuse from the Northern Kentucky Area Agency on Aging and Independent/Elder Maltreatment Alliance Committee. He is a founding board member of the Northern Kentucky Regional Mental Health Court and assisted in the creation and implementation of the Veteran’s Diversion Program that has recently blossomed into a full Veterans Treatment Court to assist our local veterans.
Blau is currently the judicial administrator of the eWarrant and eEPO system throughout the County and assisted in the implementation of this system throughout the entire Commonwealth of Kentucky to drive efficiency and to allow the law enforcement agencies to better serve and protect the community.
“Above everything else, my wife, children, and I are vested in this community. For more than 170 years, the Blau family has proudly raised our children in Campbell County. I believe I have the experience, commitment, energy, and judicial temperament to serve as the next Campbell County District Judge. I promise the same passion, dedication, and 24-7 commitment I have delivered for the past ten years as chief prosecutor in the County Attorney’s Office. I promise to preside over a dignified and courteous courtroom where accountability is expected, fairness prevails, and justice is served.”
Newport City Commissioner John Hayden has also announced his candidacy for the judgeship.
There are better options for judge than this guy who has very Little court room experience and is not well respected amongst his peers.
Ken (Turner) – We are all getting tired of people like you who spew lies and inaccuracies. Shame on you.
