Thomas More College senior guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.), sophomore guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton), freshman guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) and head women’s basketball coach Jeff Hans were honored by Women’s DIII News when it released its 2016 All-America team and annual national awards.
Moss was named the DIII News Player of the Year for the third-straight season and was named first team All-America. This marks the third-straight season she has been the unanimous National Player of the Year as she earned the honor from both the WBCA and D3hoops.com in the last week.

Moss is averaging 22.4 points per game, as she is shooting 50.6 percent (220-of-435) from the field, including 38.4 percent (91-of-237) from behind the three-point arc. She also leads the team on the boards with 7.3 rebounds per game, while she is second in assists with 152 and has blocked 17 shots and recorded 47 steals.
Owings was named honorable mention All-America by the organization. She leads the team in assists with 153, while she is second in scoring with 15.0 points per game and steals with 52. Owings is knocking down 39.0 percent (70-of-199) of her shots from behind the three-point arc and has two blocks on the season.
Temple was named to the All-Freshman Team by DIII News. She is averaging 11.4 points per game as she is connecting on 54.9 percent (145-of-264) of her shot from the field, including 41.7 percent (40-of-96) from behind the three point arc. Temple has also pulled down 5.0 rebounds per game, while dishing out 76 assists, blocking 12 shots and recording 49 steals.
Hans was named the Schelde Sports Coach of the Year for the second-straight season. He has guided the top-ranked Saints (32-0) to their second-straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship’s title game. Thomas More has a +38.4 scoring margin and is averaging 92.2 points per game, while it connects on 48.2 percent (1,107-of-2,295) of its shots from the field. The Saints have a +11.3 turnover margin, +10.8 rebounding margin and a 2.0 assist turnover ratio.
Thomas More is set to play seventh-ranked Tufts University in the national championship game on Monday, April 4 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
