The St. Joseph Crescent Springs Middle School Academic Team quick Recall players reached the Final Four of the State Governor’s Cup Competition held Monday in Louisville.
Weekend play preceded Monday’s final rounds, where the team advanced from the Elite Eight to the Final Four among more than 350 teams competing in the state of Kentucky.
“This is very exciting for our students that have put so much time into the Academic Team,” said Cathy Stover, principal at St. Joseph Crescent Springs. “Making it to the Final Four has always been an aspiration for these students, and now that it’s happening, I couldn’t be more proud,” she added.
The team lost in their first Final Four round to Johnson County, then defeated Campbell County to finish in 3rd place overall.
It is the first time any Catholic school has ever made it to the Final Four.
The team is coached by Andy and Melissa Strange. Participating students include, Luke Eisner, Emma Jennings, Sam Strange, Peter Roesel, Amelia Coomes, Zach Serra, Niko Papakirk, and Jack Bell.
