Thomas More College senior guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County) was named the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III Player of the Year Friday at the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship Banquet hosted by Capital University at the Columbus Airport Marriott in Columbus, Ohio.
This marks the third-straight season Moss has been named the Division III Player of the Year by the WBCA. She was also named first team All-American by the WBCA.

Moss is averaging 21.8 points per game, as she is shooting 50.1 percent (206-of-411) from the field, including 38.5 percent (89-of-231) from behind the three-point arc. She also leads the team on the boards with 7.2 rebounds per game, while she is second in assists with 151 and has blocked 17 shots and recorded 46 steals.
The WBCA presents the player of the year award annually to the top player in five WBCA membership divisions (NCAA Divisions II, III, NAIA, junior/community college and high school).
“The WBCA is delighted to name Sydney as the 2016 WBCA NCAA Division III Player of the Year,”” said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. “Sydney has played an integral role in guiding her team to an extraordinary season, and is very deserving of this distinguished honor. The WBCA applauds Sydney for her hard work, dedication and contributions to the game during the 2015-16 season.”
Thomas More will face fourth-ranked Amherst College (30-1) in the semifinal round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship on Saturday (March 19) at The Capital Center on the campus of Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
