Battle of the Badge at BB&T Arena Saturday to benefit families of local military and first responders

A Holiday for Heroes will host“Battle of the Badge,” a police vs. firefighter boxing event at the BB&T Arena Saturday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Holiday for HeroesA Holiday for Heroes is a non-profit organization based in Burlington that supports the families of local military and first responders.

Each year the organization gives out scholarships to local high school seniors that have been effected by the war on terror.

“Battle of the Badge” will put local police officers and firefighters to the test while raising the funds necessary to complete its mission.

General Admission seats are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event. Reserved seats are $35 in advanced or $40 the day of the event. VIP tickets, which include a complimentary buffet and open bar are $100.

A Holiday for Heroes is expanding and will be raising funds for educational scholarships and support grants for the families of local police officers and firefighters that have been injured or killed in the line of duty.

The organization has named the annual scholarship “The Daryl Gordon Memorial Scholarship”.  Gordon is the Cincinnati  Firefighter who died after falling down an elevator shaft while responding to a call at the King Towers Apartments in Madisonville last year.

He served the tri-state for over 30 years and honoring him with the naming of the scholarship will help ensure that his legacy of giving will continue for years to come.

A total of three scholarships will be awarded at intermission of “Battle of the Badge.”
