The Florence Police Department has issued the following statement regarding a shooting incident at the Walnut Creek Apartments Sunday evening that required a S.W.A.T. team response:
On 4/3/16 at approximately 9:45 pm the Florence Police Department responded to the emergency room at St. Elizabeth Florence for a patient with a gunshot wound to the chest.
According to the victim he was at his residence with a friend of his and they had been drinking. At some point they became involved in an argument; the friend then picked up the victim’s handgun and shot him in the chest.
The victim’s girlfriend transported him to the hospital in her car and the friend stayed in the apartment and locked the door.
The Florence Police S.W.A.T. team responded to the residence. They were able to make entry into the apartment and took the person into custody without incident.
The handgun was recovered at the scene. The victim is in stable condition at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Juan Juarez, 21, of Florence, has been charged with attempted murder and was transported to the Boone County Detention Center.
