“I’ll just build them myself,” William “Bill” Hagedorn exclaimed in 1941.

The NKY entrepreneur started his business by sharpening lawn mower blades as a side job to help pay the bills while being a milkman in Erlanger.

Fast forward to the start of World War II: The Maytag Company stopped building washing machines because the United States Armed Forces need pistons built for the B-17 bomber.

Being the consummate entrepreneur, Bill Hagedorn started buying Maytag Washing Machine parts and would build Maytag Washing Machines himself. And that’s how Hagedorn Appliances began.

In 75 years in business, Hagedorn Appliances has changed ownership a total of three — and always within the family.

From Bill’s son Jay Hagedorn to Jay’s son-in-law Tony Terlau to current owner and Tony’s nephew, Rich Kopser the company’s emphasis has always been on customer service.

“When it comes to customer service our staff has always been more experienced than any of our competitors,” said Kopser. “Our Sales team has over 170 years experience combined in the appliance industry and 160 combined years experience for service.

To celebrate its 75th Anniversary Hagedorn Appliainces will have special savings during April and will be giving away a $750 Hagedorn gift card.

And during the week of April 23-30, Hagedorn Appliances will donate a portion of EVERY PURCHASE to the Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home.

“We are very excited about the partnership opportunity with Hagedorn. It will be a privilege to be part of Hagedorn’s 75th anniversary. We are grateful to be the recipients of their generosity,” said Bob Wilson, Executive Director Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home.
