Kenton County Police Chief Col. Michael “Spike” Jones has been selected as the Covington Education Foundation’s 2016 Person of the Year.
The foundation, which awards college scholarships to students at Holmes High School and program support for Covington Independent Public Schools, will honor Jones at a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Dress Pavilion in Covington’s Devou Park.

He worked for 27 years with the Covington Police Department, rising to Chief, and retiring in 2015. He has distinguished himself as an extraordinary and respected community leader, working with an array of neighborhood groups and organizations.
“We are so honored to pay tribute to such an outstanding man,’’ said Chuck Eilerman, president of the foundation. “Spike makes our community a much better place to live.’’
