Boone County Sheriff’s office arrests five youths for string of crimes believed to be gang-related

The Boone County Sheriff’s office has arrested several male juveniles that are believed to have engaged in a string of crimes over several months.

The suspects have not been identified because of their ages, but the Sheriff’s office believes they are members of an organized group known as the Fine$$e Gang.

Charges range from burglary, to trafficking in controlled substances and guns, and terroristic threatening and criminal mischief.

The Sheriff’s office expects to make additional arrests of juveniles and adults believed to be members of the gang, and is asking for public assistance to help break up the criminal enterprise.

The Boone County Sheriff’s office released the following statement regarding the arrests:

On Wednesday, June 8, 2016 Boone County Sheriff’s detectives took five male juveniles ranging in age from 15 to 17 into custody.

The arrest were the result of a near six month long extensive investigation into the group’s criminal enterprise consisting of a vast array of crimes to include robberies, burglaries, drug sales/use and stealing and selling guns.

The crimes occurred predominately in the Walton and Richwood areas and up to Florence.

Members of the Fine$$e Gang are *charged with:

Engaging in Organized Crime

Robbery 1st degree (3 counts)

Burglary 1st degree (2 counts)

Burglary 3rd degree (5 counts)

Theft of automobile (3 counts)

Trafficking in marijuana

Trafficking in Controlled Substances

Gun Trafficking

Receiving Stolen Property under $1,000

Thefts by unlawful taking over $1,000, Thefts of firearms

Assaults

Disorderly Conduct

Terroristic Threatening

Criminal Mischief

Within the course of this time period, two additional juvenile gang members were apprehended during a burglary in progress. They were charged with that burglary and incarcerated with additional charges pending.

The investigation is still active with forthcoming charges against additional suspects; both juvenile and adults.

The Fine$$e Gang was established in or around the Fall of 2015 and quickly developed into an organized syndicate.

What ostensibly appeared to be random criminal acts of wayward kids caught the eye of Detective Jeff Miles on January 13. He structured an investigation using tried and true methods like collecting crime scene evidence and interviewing victims and associates to high-tech procedures.

Miles discovered the organizational structure of the gang and, working in conjunction with the Commonwealth’s Attorney Office and the Boone County Attorney’s Office, determined them to be engaged in organized crime.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is committed to dismantling this gang and any others like them who prey upon our communities.
