“As we face a more globalized and knowledge-based economy, programs like STEM Girls Day Out are critical to exposing our students to the careers that will solve the complex problems of today’s world and its future,” Polly Lusk Page, Executive Director, Northern Kentucky Education Council.

The workshop allows for personal and in-depth career exploration.

The students will learn about STEM careers first hand by touring and visiting local organizations.

From crossing a bridge an engineer designed, to using your smart phone, STEM careers impact lives.

“We are so excited to offer such a great experience,” Tiffany Osborne, VP Workforce at the NKY Chamber. “It is so important that these young ladies are exposed to STEM Career opportunities and see women in those positions. Each employee of these companies is a part of the bigger picture and each job is so important!”

Over 300 girls from 4th-12th grades registered for STEM Girls Day Out 2016. They will be touring 13 sites for a fun day of learning about STEM careers and college pathways.

“Hosting the STEM Girls Day Out is a way for us to support other local area young women as they prepare for potential careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math,” said Beth White, site HR leader & Business Partner for sponsor Celanese. “As women in Science, Technology, and Engineering professions ourselves, we feel it is our responsibility to give these young women an understanding of the diversity and rewarding career possibilities that exist as they think about pursuing their education in these fields. We also feel it important to provide guidance and encouragement to these young women; helping them find the courage they need to follow their dream.”
