Art Off Pike registration opens; deadline is July 31 to secure a spot in Covington’s annual urban art festival


Registration is now open for the 2016 Art Off Pike urban art show.

Artists of all variety are invited to submit their work for inclusion in Art Off Pike, an event as vibrant and diverse as the city it calls home.

Art Off Pike twoInterested artists are asked to submit a selection of photos, description of their work, and a link to their website or Facebook page (if available). The show is curated by a team of community volunteers from Art Off Pike, and booths will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Registration is $60 and guarantees a spot in the show.

Art Off Pike is Covington’s annual urban arts festival, which includes arts, culture, food and drink. For the last 12 years it has been the event for emerging artists to establish success with their careers as well as engage with arts and cultural enthusiasts all over the region.

Organizers are also looking for interactive installations during the event. Examples include sculptures, murals, sound, performances, and more. Four selected submissions will be given $500 to create their installation.

Submissions are due by July 31, with winners notified by August 6.

Art Off Pike will take place from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 25 on Seventh Street in Covington between Madison and Washington.

It is presented by Renaissance Covington, which strives to stimulate the vitality of downtown Covington by fostering proactive community efforts and partnerships. The group focuses on organization, promotion, design, and economic restructuring to socially and economically revitalize downtown Covington for everyone.

Attendees will have the opportunity to browse and shop the works of artists, enjoy artistic demonstrations, participate in hands-on activities, and enjoy music by local musicians. As in past years, hungry attendees will find plenty to eat and drink at Art Off Pike, with a selection of food from Northern Kentucky vendors.

Art Off Pike is free and open to the public. There will be ample parking in the city parking garage on Seventh Street and street parking is available at a first come, first serve basis.
