Brighton Center is pleased to announce a partnership with Stock Yards Bank & Trust Company to bring back the Credit $mart program which was created to assist individuals and families to make sound financial decisions, repair or establish credit, and build assets.
The Credit $mart program will utilize simplified underwriting criteria to offer small dollar loans with features not currently offered at traditional lending institutions. The partnership with Stock Yard Bank & Trust will offer a reasonably priced alternative to high-cost, short term credit to customers who complete the financial education workshop “Two Cents about Finance” offered by Brighton Center.
This two-hour workshop covers budgeting, banking, how credit works, credit review, and assists in preparing for major purchases. It is offered monthly and individuals can register online at Financial Services
Commenting on the partnership, Ja Hillebrand, President at Stock Yards Bank, said, “We are proud to be a part of this program because small business owners, individuals, and families need an alternative to the high interest rate that ‘Payday Lending’ or ‘Quick Cash’ Loans offer. Credit $mart helps create opportunities for individuals and families to reach self-sufficiency through family support services, education, employment and leadership.”
Stephanie Stiene, Brighton Center Financial Services Director, said “It provides a safety net for families while building positive credit. This in turn lays a foundation for better borrowing at a lower rate.”
