CVG volunteer ambassador program marks 20th anniversary of ‘friendly faces’ at the airport

Today marks the 22-year anniversary of the volunteer ambassador program at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).

For more than two decades, individual volunteers wearing CVG green shirts or blue fleece jackets can be found staffing information desks located in baggage claim and Concourses A and B or strolling the airport looking for passengers with questions or wayfinding needs.

While CVG recently launched new wayfinding videos on its website, the ambassadors are a friendly face to interact with once inside the airport. Many of the volunteers have been with CVG since the program’s inception 22 years ago and have become well-known fixtures in the airport.

“I enjoy helping people from all over the world find their way in the airport or connect with their family,” said Mal Collier, Burlington resident and six-year CVG ambassador.

“Our volunteers are critical to delivering an unforgettably positive experience for all of our travelers,” said Candace McGraw. “We’d like to thank the more than 120 committed, compassionate folks who volunteer to help others travel with ease and peace of mind as well as welcome travelers to our region.”

CVG is always looking for new ambassadors. Members of the community looking for volunteer opportunities in an exciting, fast-paced environment are encouraged to apply by visiting: www.cvgairport.com/about/career/vol.

Volunteers are trained on how to best support persons with disabilities and go through the CTA (Certified Tourism Ambassador) program to gain the knowledge and skill base to provide quality customer service to all visitors of the Greater Cincinnati region.
