An interstate rehabilitation project is in progress on I-71/I-75 from the I-275 interchange to just south of US 25 (Exit 188).
Beginning July 15 (Friday night), starting at 10 p.m., significant lane restrictions will be in place throughout the weekend on I-71/I-75 NB. The restrictions will occur between the 184 mile-marker (KY 236 – Donaldson Road) and the 188 mile-marker (US 25 – Dixie Highway).
The weekend work will involve shifting lanes and opening the contraflow lane on the southbound side. This weekend work will have major impacts to northbound travel time. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate northbound routes while this work is in progress.
Drivers should exercise extreme caution and watch for traffic control devices, flaggers, construction personnel and equipment entering and leaving the work zone.
The northbound direction is expected to be reopened with two lanes and the contraflow lane (total of 3) by 5 a.m. Monday morning, July 18.
In addition, the entrance ramp from KY 236 (Donaldson Road) will close on Friday night, at 10 p.m. The entrance ramp will remain closed until approximately October 15. Access to I-275 from Donaldson will remain open.
The speed limit will be 45 MPH in the northbound work zone. Upon completion of the traffic switch, crews will be removing the old northbound pavement and replacing it with new concrete pavement. Additional delays can be expected throughout the remainder of the construction season. The completion date for this project is November 2016.
Work is weather dependent.
