The 2016 Boone County 4H & Utopia Fair will be held August 8-13 at the Boone County Fairgrounds. The Fair was started in 1932 as part of the 4-H and Agriculture activities of the University of Kentucky Extension program.

The current location of the fairgrounds was purchased in 1941 and the first fair on those grounds was held in 1942. The Boone County 4-H and Utopia fair is currently in its 84th year of operation and still represents the spirit of a family/community fair.
Fair rides are not open until Monday, but some events, including laser tag, a Vintage Vehicle Cruise In and the popular Fishing Frenzy begin on Saturday, Aug. 6. The catch and release event is open to children age 15 and under takes place at the Fairgrounds lake.
