Fairfield man shot and killed in parking lot of Waffle House on Burlington Pike in Florence this morning

A Fairfield, Ohio man was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Waffle House Restaurant on Burlington Pike (KY 18) this morning.

Florence PD logoFlorence Police, responding to a report of shots fired at approximately 5 a.m., located 42-year-old Juan Vega in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, where he was pronounced deceased.

There are reports that Vega had been inside the restaurant earlier in the morning, but police have no suspects or motive in the shooting.

The Waffle House is located at the corner of KY 18 and Ewing Boulevard just off Interstate 71/75, next to a busy truck stop and near the Florence Government Center.

Florence Police issued the following report regarding the incident:

On 08/18/16 at approximately 0500 hours the Florence Police Department responded to the Waffle House Restaurant at 7673 Burlington Pk. for a report of shots fired in the parking lot.

Upon arrival officers located Juan Vega, 42 years old, from Fairfield, OH sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Mr. Vega was transported to St. Elizabeth Florence for medical treatment but was pronounced deceased upon his arrival. There currently is no information or description of the possible suspect or motive for the shooting.
