For the second time in less than four months, an armed robber has jumped the counter at Walgreens in Florence and taken drugs and cash.
Florence Police say early Sunday morning an unknown black male entered the Walgreens at 8193 Mall Road, placed a note on the counter and demanded the pharmacist to pick it up.
The man then jumped the counter and produced a handgun, demanding a list of medications. The pharmacist complied, placing the drugs in a backpack the suspect brought with him.

The man then removed money from the register and also took cash and personal identification from the pharmacist. The man, who fled on foot, is described as a male black, with a thin build, wearing a white t-shit, dark shorts and a ball cap (see photo).
The incident is very similar to a robbery that occurred at the same Walgreens in May.
The suspect in that incident was also armed, and described as a male black with a thin build, who used a backpack to transport the drugs. He also took cash from the register and the pharmacist, as well as personal identification, and fled on foot.
The man in that incident entered the store just before midnight and had a mustache (see photo).
Florence police Capt. Tom Grau said the man who committed Sunday’s robbery could be the same man and the department is investigation that possibility.

Anyone with information on either of these crimes is asked to contact Florence Police Department at (859) 647-5420.
The Florence Police Department issues the following statement on Sunday’s incident:

You have to love all the updates they have given to this. Probably the same suspect from the hamilton robbery that the police killed but we will never know. They like things to be a mystery in Florence.
