The Fast Park family of offsite airport parking companies launches its ninth annual Canned Food Drive next week as part of Hunger Action Month.
Starting September 12 through October 7, local collections will take place in 14 markets across the United States, including Cincinnati where the facility is located near CVG.
“We want to thank our Fast Park customers who embrace our annual food drive. Most look forward to dropping off their canned goods as they leave for their vacations or business trips,” said Melanie Chavez, executive vice president of construction and branding. “We love seeing bin after bin overflowing with their generosity, and it warms our hearts to match those donations with money we know each local food bank needs so desperately.”
Each year Fast Park donates one dollar for every pound of nonperishable food donated by customers. Since the annual drive began in 2007, Fast Park has collected close to 50,000 pounds and donated more than $50,000 to support the needs of hungry families.
Most markets will donate the canned goods and matched monetary donations to its local Feeding America food bank — a nationwide network of food banks and the leading domestic hunger-relief charity.
According to Feeding America, one in seven Americans struggle to get enough to eat. In fact, hunger or food insecurity exists in virtually every community in the U.S. Of the households it serves:
· 31 percent have to choose between paying for education and food every year.
· 66 percent have to choose between paying for medical care and food every year.
· 1 in 5 has a member who has served in the U.S. military.
Customers can bring canned goods during the collection period to any Fast Park location. Bins will appear at the facility entrance and can be dropped off at any time of day. Fast Park facilities are open 24/7.
