NKY Convention Center hosts Cincy ComiCon 2016 this weekend, featuring The Walking Dead co-creator

The Northern Kentucky Convention Center will host the Cincy ComiCon 2016 Cincinnati’s celebration of comics, art, and their creators today through Sunday.

“We focus first and foremost on celebrating comic books and those who dedicate their lives to crafting the stories and art we all love,” said Bill Haders, Cincy ComiCon partner. “We will have so many exciting attractions, and there is truly something here for everyone.”

Cincy ComiconThose in attendance will have the opportunity to speak with Tony Moore, co-creator of the hit AMC television series The Walking Dead, who co-owns and co-directs Cincy ComiCon.

One of the key attractions at this year’s Cincy ComiCon is “Bricks on the Banks” — a 3,000-square-foot area showcasing LEGO creations made possible through a partnership with the Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana LEGO Users Group. These sculptures depict scenes from famous movies, imaginative landscapes, and even replicas of well-known buildings in Cincinnati.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to take part in a costume contest that will be held throughout the days of the convention. Winners of the costume contest will receive cash prizes for their hard work and dedication in creating comic character costumes.

The convention will also include dozens of notable creators, including iconic Marvel and DC comic book writer Mark Waid; Marty Pasko, co-writer of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm animated series; Jason LaTour, Robbie Rodriguez, and Rico Renzi, the creative team of the Spider-Gwen comic book series published by Marvel; world class Rock and Roll poster artists Brian Ewing and Angryblue; plus many more creators.

Cincy ComiCon also will offer attendees a rare opportunity to meet Brian Azzarello, Eduardo Risso, and Dave Johnson, creators of the Vertigo Comic series 100 Bullets.

Those who attend the convention also will be able to visit vendors, such as James Moore’s The Dragon’s Hoard in Covington; Comic Book World; Arcadian Comics and Games; and Geek Mountain. These vendors and others will be available to buy and sell a multitude of collectibles.

Active military members and veterans will receive half-price admission to the convention on Sunday, September 11, as Cincy ComiCon’s show support for our armed forces.

“We want everyone to come and have a good time,” Haders continued. “That’s why we are featuring Cincinnati’s largest LEGO exhibition, having the costume contest, and hosting some of the most creative minds in the industry.”
