After many years of service with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Rob Hans, Chief District Engineer in District 6, has announced his plans to retire effective October 1.

Hans began his career with the Cabinet in 1989 in District 6 and has been the Chief District Engineer at the District 6 office in Covington since September 2008. Prior to his appointment as Chief District Engineer, Rob served as a district bridge engineer, a district maintenance engineer, a branch manager for operations, a branch manager for planning, and a branch manager for engineering support.
Bob Yeager has been named Acting Chief District Engineer (CDE) for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 6 office.
Yeager began his career with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in 1975 as an engineer-in-training for the Covington district office. Yeager attended the University of Kentucky as a Civil Engineering Scholarship student and received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in December 1974. He also earned his MBA from Northern Kentucky University in 1982.
Yeager worked in District 6 from 1975 to 2003, serving as a maintenance engineer, branch manager for operations, and branch manager for planning. In 2003, Yeager left the Cabinet to pursue work in the private sector with a local consulting firm. Yeager returned to the Cabinet in 2009 as the branch manager for project development in District 6.
During his career, Hans has led very talented and dedicated staffs in accomplishing worthy goals and has been involved with and worked on countless projects, including numerous pavement rehabilitation and bridge replacement projects and the ongoing development of the Brent Spence Bridge (BSB) project.
Hans has always dedicated his efforts toward improving the highway infrastructure in Kentucky.
In the past five years, the District 6 office has let to contract and constructed almost $500 million in projects to help enhance roadways in Northern Kentucky.
Rob and his wife, Lisa, have two children, Mark (21) and Ryan (19).
A reception in his honor is being held Friday, September 30, at the district office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
