Erlanger-Elsmere schools send parents an alert about clown sighting near Rosella Porterfield Park

Erlanger-Elsmere Independent School District contacted all parents Thursday via email and phone to provide them with first-handinformation regarding a report that a clown was seen this morning in the woods near Rosella Porterfield Park located on Capitol Avenue in Elsmere.

As soon the school district learned this information, it placed the Elsmere schools on Secure-in-Place as a safety precaution and notified all other schools located in the Erlanger-Elsmere School District. Secure-in-Place is a safety measure taken when information is received about any possible safety concern in the community.

During a Secure-in-Place, students continue the school day as usual, but administration closely monitors all entries and exits to the building keeping them secure. Students are also kept inside the building until local police notify the district that there is no longer a safety concern. The Elsmere Police searched the community extensively and found nothing. They notified the district at 12:20 pm to resume normal school activities as usual.

The district has worked closely with the City of Elsmere and its police department throughout the day. If anything is learned that causes additional concerns, the district will notify parents as soon as possible and take any extra precautions needed to ensure its students’ safety.

The district has also asked parents and students to consider the following safety recommendations:

• Walk in pairs or groups.
• Follow main routes.
• Report anything suspicious to the local police, the school, or other
authorities.
