The eight-team fields for next week’s 9th Region boys’ and girls’ soccer playoffs are set, but pairings won’t be decided until the district finals are completed on Thursday.

The teams that qualified for the 9th Region girls’ tournament to be played at Tower Park in Ft. Thomas are Ryle, Boone County, Dixie Heights, St. Henry, Notre Dame, Holy Cross, Highlands and Newport Central Catholic.
In girls’ district finals played Wednesday night, Dixie Heights edged St. Henry, 2-1, Highlands defeated NewCath, 3-0, and Notre Dame topped Holy Cross, 7-0. Ryle and Boone County will meet in the 33rd District final on Thursday.
The field for next week’s 9th Region boys’ tournament at Ryle High School includes Cooper, Ryle, St. Henry, Dixie Heights, Covington Catholic, Beechwood, Highlands and Newport Central Catholic.
On Wednesday, St. Henry defeated Dixie Heights, 7-0, in the 34th District final and Highlands shut out NewCath, 1-0, in the 36th District final. The district finals scheduled for Thursday are Ryle vs. Cooper and CovCath vs. Beechwood.
The boys’ and girls’ soccer teams at Simon Kenton swept 32nd District titles to qualify for the 8th Region playoffs next week. The boys will play at Collins High School and the girls will play at the Walton-Verona Sports Complex.
Teams from Brossart and Campbell County earned berths in both the boys’ and girls’ 10th Region tournaments to be played at Harrison County High School next week. Brossart defeated Campbell County, 1-0, in the 37th District girls’ final on Wednesday. Boys’ teams from those two schools will play in their district final on Thursday.
