Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky offers free webinar for professionals, community members


As part of its efforts to improve public health, the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky is offering a free webinar on October 25 for boards of health, local health department staff and interested community members.

foundation-for-a-healthy-kyThe online workshop is focused on the Board of Health Toolkit, a training tool for gaining accreditation and improving public health services in Kentucky. Participants will learn about boards of health governance, roles and responsibilities, as well as training tools available for improving boards.

The toolkit has been endorsed by the Kentucky Population Health Institute and the Kentucky Association of Local Boards of Health.

The one-hour webinar, Building a Stronger Governance – A Toolkit for Education and Engagement for Boards of Health, is part of the Foundation’s “Health for a Change” training series. It starts at 1 p.m. (Eastern) and advance registration is required: Register here.

Presenters include:
• April Harris, Three Rivers District Health Department;
• Andrew Beckett , Public Health Director, Bourbon County Health Department;
• Brandi Gilley, Accreditation Coordinator and Nutrition Services Supervisor, Laurel County Health Department; and
• Andrea Brown, Public Health Services Manager, Jessamine County Health Department.

The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky has invested more than $26 million in health policy research, advocacy and pilot project grants across the Commonwealth since it opened in 2001.
