A woman who crawled into a dumpster to escape last night’s storms got more than she bargained for when Rumpke showed up to empty the container.

Florence firefighters responding to an early-morning call of a person trapped in a refuse truck on Houston Road, located the woman inside the vehicle’s holding area.
Crews worked quickly to remove her from the back of the vehicle to safety.
Florence Fire officials say the woman, whose name was not released, was uninjured in the incident, but she was probably in the truck for a few stops.
The truck driver emptied a container, got out of the truck’s cab to unhook it and heard someone banging and yelling from the container section.
He immediately called 911 and firefighters responded to the scene and rescued the woman.
Officials were unsure if the woman was homeless, but say she definitely appeared to be down on her luck.
They say it appears she was dumped into the container prior to the location where she was found and if the driver had compacted the load at any point, an unfortunate incident might have turned tragic.
