The City of Florence has a special connection to Fort Campbell.
The City has adopted the military unit, Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based out of Fort Campbell. The unit is currently deployed stateside and none of its members were involved in the attack in Jordan.
The City of Florence adopted the unit, known as the Renegades, during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom and has supported the unit with community donations during deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Members of the Renegades are scheduled to be in Florence Friday for the City’s annual Veteran’s Day weekend activities and the Fort Campbell Public Information Office has confirmed that the unit is expected to fulfill that commitment.
Capt. Joseph C. Knight from the unit will be the featured speaker at the Friday services, which are open to the public and begin at 6 p.m. at the Florence Government Center.
