Cops & Kids seeks donations

The Cops & Kids program provides gifts and necessities such as warm clothing for children in need. The children are referred to the program through the school systems. If you know of a child or family in need please have them contact their school counselor and they can make the referral to the Program.

The date for this year’s Cops & Kids is: Tuesday, December 13 and donations will be graciously accepted up to that date. The children will get breakfast in the morning then go shopping with law enforcement officers and then go for lunch and gift wrapping to complete the day.

The Cops & Kids Program is now accepting tax deductible donations at the U.S. Bank on Dixie Highway in Fort Wright or checks can be sent to or dropped off at the Fort Wright Police Department. The checks should be made out to: Cops & Kids, F.O.P. # 20 Foundation Fund.

Any donations can also be sent if you wish in the name of: Officer Jamie Puthoff, who passed away this year after a tragic fall, just put her name in the comment line. Officer Puthoff worked for the Fort Wright Police Department for about five years before retiring. She was a dedicated professional who did a tremendous job for the Police Department and the community.

Christmas in the Park — Crescent Springs, Villa Hills

The cities of Crescent Springs and Villa Hills are partnering once again to present Christmas in the Park.

The public is invited to the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Crescent Springs Community Park, 800 Buttermilk Pike, from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. Santa’s workshop, train rides around the park, a bon fire, food and refreshments and a chance to visit Santa will all be part of the festivities.

A series of Northern Kentucky school children and other local performers will be entertaining throughout the evening.

Live Nativity at Thomas More College

What: Winter Wonderland
Where: The Saints Center on the TMC Campus
When: Wednesday Nov. 30, 4:00-7:00 p.m..

Members of the Thomas More College Student Government Association celebrate the spirit of Christmas as they host “Winter Wonderland” on the Crestview Hill campus. Twenty one different student clubs are joining together to produce this event featuring Christmas arts and crafts, games, face painting, food — and of course, Santa Claus!

The highlight, will be a live nativity scene featuring animals from Honey Hill Farm, and students from Campus Ministry and the Villa Players wearing biblical-period costumes. This life-size scene, depicting baby Jesus in the manager, will be positioned outside the Saints Center.

Winter Wonderland is free and open to the public and is recommended for grade school-age children, but all are welcome.
