KYTC announces lane restriction on I-71/75 SB this weekend; bridge work in Kenton, Campbell next week


The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 6 office has announced that there will be significant lane restrictions on Interstate 71/75 in Northern Kentucky this weekend.

The restrictions will occur between the 189 mile-marker (Kyles Lane) and the 184 mile-marker (Donaldson Road). The work will involve shifting lanes back to the permanent position on the southbound side of the interstate and will have major impacts to travel time.

In addition, KYTC District 6 will be conducting bridge maintenance projects on Interstate-275 in Northern Kentucky next week.

kytcIn Kenton County Monday (Nov. 14), a bridge maintenance project on I-275 Westbound over I-75 will result in a right lane closure on the bridge over I-75 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tuesday (Nov. 15) a bridge maintenance project on I-275 Eastbound over I-75 will result in a right lane closure on the bridge over I-75 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Thursday (Nov. 17), a bridge maintenance project on I-275 Southbound over the Ohio River in Campbell County will take place from Ohio into Kentucky. Crews will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the right lane will be closed. The right lane will be closed. Motorist should look for lane closures and equipment.

As always, motorists are encouraged to use caution and obey the speed limit in work areas and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.

Significant delays are expected on some projects and motorists should consider seeking alternates routes during the scheduled work times.

KYTC District 6 has issued the following information regarding the projects:

I-71/I-75 NB (184.7 – 186.9 mile-marker)

An interstate rehabilitation project is in progress on I-71/I-75 from the I-275 interchange to just south of US 25 (Exit 188).  The speed limit is 45 MPH in the northbound work zone.  Drivers should exercise extreme caution and watch for traffic control devices, construction personnel and equipment entering and leaving the work zone.   The completion date for this project is December 2, 2016.  Work is weather dependent.

Beginning Friday night, November 11 at 10 p.m. significant lane restrictions will be in place throughout the weekend on SB I-71/I-75.  The restrictions will occur between the 189 mile-marker (KY 1072 – Kyles Lane) and the 184 mile-marker (KY 236 – Donaldson Road).  The weekend work will involve shifting lanes back to their permanent position on the southbound side. This weekend work will have major impacts to Southbound travel time. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate Southbound routes while this work is in progress.  Drivers should exercise extreme caution and watch for traffic control devices, flaggers, construction personnel and equipment entering and leaving the work zone.  The southbound direction is expected to be reopened to the normal number of lanes by 5 a.m. Monday morning, November 14th.

Kenton County Bridge project

  • I-275 – (.0 milepost) – On Monday, November 14, 2016, KYTC District 6 will be conducting a bridge maintenance project on I-275 Westbound over I-75. Crews will be working from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.  The right lane on the bridge over I-75 will be closed. Motorist should look for lane closures and equipment.
  • I-275 – (.0 milepost) – On Tuesday November 15, 2016, KYTC District 6 will be conducting a bridge maintenance project on I-275 Eastbound over I-75. Crews will be working from 9 AM – 3:30 PM.  The right lane on the bridge over I-75 will be closed. Motorist should look for lane closures and equipment.

Campbell County Bridge project

  • I-275 – Combs Hehl Bridge (73 milepost) – On Thursday, November 17, 2016,  KYTC District 6 will be conducting a bridge maintenance project on I-275 SB over the Ohio River. From Ohio into Kentucky. Crews will be working Thursday November 17, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The right lane will be closed. Motorist should look for lane closures and equipment.
