Mayor Diane Whalen has announced the appointment of T. Alex Mattingly to the position of Florence City Coordinator.

Mattingly has served as Elsmere’s City Administrator since July of 2012. He was the Assistant City Solicitor/ABC Administrator for the City of Covington for five years prior to coming to Elsmere.
“We are pleased that someone of Alex’s experience and reputation will be taking over the reigns as City Coordinator,” Whalen said. “His time in Elsmere and Covington has provided him a vast amount of experience and knowledge in the workings of city government. While every city is unique, we all share the same dedication to quality city and customer service.”
“I’m excited for the opportunity to help lead Florence and be part of its continued growth and development,” Mr. Mattingly added. “It’s an honor to be able to serve the residents and businesses here, and to work with a great city staff.”
The Florence City Council is expected to take action to approve his appointment at Tuesday’s meeting.
Mattingly is a graduate of Brescia University in Owensboro, and the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at NKU. He was admitted to the Kentucky Bar Association to practice law in 2007. He is a member of the International City/County Management Association and the Kentucky City/County Management Association.
Mattingly also serves on the Steinford Toy Foundation Board of Trustees and the Brescia University Alumni Association Board of Directors.
He will assume the position following the retirement of Richard Lunnemann and will begin his duties the week of January 16.
