Retired Fort Mitchell fire chief, Paul Radenheimer, dies at age 86; services Friday morning


Visitation for Paul Radenheimer, 86, retired fire chief for Fort Mitchell, will be Friday at Blessed Sacrament Church from 8:30- 10 a.m.

Mass will begin at 10 a.m. and burial will follow at Saint John Cemetery.

Mr. Radenheimer died Tuesday, surrounded by his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ida Radenheimer; sister, Mary Jean Thomas; and grandson, Ethan James. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Dorothy Moehring Radenheimer. He was the loving father of John Radenheimer (Linda), Charles Radenheimer (Tricia), Mary Kay Radenheimer and Tony Radenheimer (Ally). Loving grandfather of Zack (Lorie) Marshall, Emily, Caleb, Jacob, Benjamin, Adam, Autumn, Zeb Andrew; and great grandfather of Lily Marshall.

“Chief Radenheimer dedicated many years of service to the citizens of Fort Mitchell and to the fire department,” said current Fort Mitchell Fire Chief Gary Auffart. “Several of our current members have talked about the impact that he not only made on them but also on other firefighters in Northern Kentucky. He is recognized as a Lifetime member of the department and served as a role model to many.”

Chief Radenheimer proudly served on the Fort Mitchell Fire Department for over 46 years, attaining the position of Chief.

Paul served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He also worked with the New York Railroad and the Kenton County Sheriff Office and was the personal Bailiff of Judge Wilford Schroder. He was President of the Kentucky Fireman Association in 1980 and also served as Secretary for many years.

He was a long time member of Blessed Sacrament Church and served as an Usher and Lector.
