Turfway Park cancels live racing due to extreme cold; Perry Ouzts Day activities rescheduled to next Friday

Due to extreme cold, Turfway Park has canceled live racing for tonight, Friday, Jan. 6.

Tufrway Park General Manager Chip Bach said on Turfway’s Horseman’s page that he wanted to make sure there were no forecast changes before the decision to cancel was made.

The band for tonight’s Rockin’ Dollar Friday, Naked Karate Girls, will play as scheduled starting at 9 p.m. Dollar drafts and hot dogs will still be available and the facility remains open for simulcasting.

Perry Ouzts Day events supporting fans’ efforts to bring the veteran jockey to the attention of the National Racing Hall of Fame, is rescheduled for next Friday, Jan. 13.

Live racing is expected to resume Saturday Jan. 07, at the usual first post of 6:15 p.m.

First post is 6:15 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday  with nine races each day.

Admission and parking are free.
