Gus Staubitz of Holy Cross and Lindsey Fox of Scott won gold medals in boys’ and girls’ 1-meter springboard diving at the state championship meet on Saturday at the University of Louisville.

Staubitz became the first Holy Cross student to win a state championship in diving with a score of 432.90 in the final round. Fox took the girls’ state title for the second consecutive year with a 432.10 score.
Notre Dame junior Sophie Skinner won the girls’ 100-yard freestyle event for the third straight year, touching the wall in 49.89 seconds. She came close to breaking the state record of 49.79 that she set in 2015.
Samantha Glass of Notre Dame won the 200 individual medley event in 2:00.42 and teammate Amanda Smith placed second in the 100 backstroke. The Pandas also had a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay.
Northern Kentucky did not have any state champions in boys’ swimming events. Covington Catholic senior Nick Smith took second place in the boys’ 200 and 500 freestyle events and the Colonels placed second in the 200 freestyle relay.
Louisville St. Xavier finished on top in the boys’ teams standings for the 29th consecutive year with 453.5 points and CovCath took second place with 204.5 points. Louisville Sacred Heart won the girls’ team title with 372.55 points, followed by Notre Dame with 265.
