Fiona the little hippo, born prematurely at the Cincinnati Zoo, is now up to 73 pounds — a little too heavy for her caregivers to lift in and out of her pool.
So, she’s learning to use a ramp — and at first needed a little coaxing to step on it. In just a few days, she’s a pro at it — and jumping right into the pool
Her parents, Henry and Bibi, may be seen out in the weather at the Zoo, but baby Fiona is still receiving around-the-clock care inside.
Fiona is getting lots of fan mail, gaining weight steadily (toward an adult weight of 3000 pounds) and making good progress, according to her care staff. Just this week, she graduated to a big girl bottle for her growing appetite.
