Villa Hills Mayor Butch Callery — and Mayor-for-a-Day Seth Dossa — have called a special meeting of the City Council for Wednesday.
The meeting will take place at Villa Madonna Academy Auditorium at 2500 Amsterdam Road. It is the annual “Shadow Night” with local 5th graders from River Ridge Elementary, St. Joseph School, and Villa Madonna Academy.
Fifth grade students from Saint Joseph’s Elementary, River Ridge Elementary, and Villa Madonna Academy will shadow Mayor Callery, council members and staff during its April Council meeting.
Students from the three schools submitted short essays on why they wanted to serve as one of the 12 city officials during the meeting. Students were selected based on their essays.
“Council is excited to share this real life experience of government in action with these students” said Scott Ringo, the member of council who took the lead organizing this event.
The students will participate in the Council meeting in place of each city official for a portion of the meeting.
Mayor Callery said “Our city is the closest government to the people and the most important. We are very happy to hold this event and give our young people a chance to participate and learn.”
Students participating include:
The public is invited to attend what is sure to be a fun and educational evening for all involved.
