Williamstown woman killed, five others injured in accident on Weaver Road in Boone County

Cheryl Jeffers, 50, of Williamstown was killed Friday evening when the minivan she was a passenger in collided with a pickup truck on Weaver Road at Sam Neace Road near Florence.

Three others in the minivan were also injured and were transported to University Medical Center and Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati. All are in critical, but stable condition.

Scott Turner, 46, the driver of the pickup truck and a passenger, Jacklynn Turner, 14, both of Walton, were transported to St. Elizabeth Florence, with minor injuries.

The roadway was closed for several hours following the accident.

The Boone County Sheriff’s department released the following statement regarding the accident:

On Friday March 31, 2017 at approximately 7:05 p.m. a two vehicle, T-Bone collision on Weaver Road at Sam Neace Road near Florence, Kentucky claimed the life of one of the passengers and sent five others to the hospital.

A 2000 Mercury Villager operated by Amber Wesley, 31 of Independence, Kentucky was westbound on Weaver Road when she made a left turn onto Sam Neace Road.

At that time she pulled into the path of a 2000 Ford F-250 Crew Cab Pickup Truck operated by Scott Turner, 46 of Walton, Kentucky who was eastbound on Weaver Road.

The collision caused the unfortunate death of Cheryl Jeffers, 50 of Williamstown Kentucky, the front seat passenger of the minivan.

Also in the van was 17 year old Christina Jeffers, of Williamstown Kentucky and 2 year old Jason Wesley Jr. of Independence, both were transported, along with Amber Wesley, to University Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio and then to Children’s Hospital also in Cincinnati with life threatening injuries. All are now in critical but stable condition.

A passenger in the pickup truck, Jacklynn Turner, 14 of Walton, Kentucky as well as the driver, Scott Turner were transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, Kentucky with minor injuries.

Preliminary indications are that the Mercury failed to yield the right-of-way of the Ford causing a collision.

Witnesses indicated both East and West bound signal lights on Weaver Road were believed to be green at the time of the crash. The roadway was closed until approximately 10:30 p.m. The collision is being investigated by The Boone County Sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction Unit.

Next of kin has been notified.
