Casting call for gunslingers, city slickers, outlaws, ropers and more for Ohio’s Old West Festival

Fascinated with Old Westerns and the action and allure of the American Frontier? Now’s your chance to join the cast of the 2017 Old West Festival as it celebrates 10 years of gun-slinging, trick-roping and outlaw fun this fall.

Organizers of the Old West Festival will be holding a casting call on its festival grounds (1449 Greenbush Cobb Rd between Mt. Orab and Wiliamsburg, Ohio) on Saturday, June 24th, Noon – 6:30 PM. Brand new applicants should arrive at 11 a.m. to sign up and receive additional information.

The casting is a rehearsal. Applicants should wear comfortable clothing and shoes and pack a lunch and water for a 40-minute lunch break.

Roles being cast include gunslingers, city slickers, outlaws and cowboys and more. There is no charge to sign up. Those interested should be available to work weekends – 10 a.m.–6 p.m., September 9 – October 15.

“No experience is required, just an outgoing attitude and willingness to have fun!” said Brian Haller, Vice President of Carnivale Sword Play LLC, the choreography group leading the instruction and performance of the gunfights, saloon performances, and more during this year’s festival.

Carnviale Sword Play LLC created The Spectacular Spectacle of Serenading Sally and her Dancin’ Darlins, a brand new show written for the 2017 season of the Old West Festival. As the title implies, this show is a comedy singing/dancing saloon show.  The troop will also be orchestrating brand new gunfights, written to further the story and characters of Dodge City.

“We are introducing entirely new gunfights and cast shows to the festival this year, and are excited to work with new and returning cast members from the region,” said Haller.
