Gateway Community & Technical College announces an expansion of the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training program to help meet industry need. Starting in July, Gateway will add a second monthly session. New classes begin the first and third of each month, meeting Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5p.m. at the Gateway’s Transportation Technology Center, 1051 Dudley Road Fort Wright.
This full-time CDL course, the only one of its kind in Northern Kentucky, is designed for those with little or no commercial driving experience who are interested a high pay, high demand field, or for companies seeking CDL certification for employees.
During four weeks of instruction in the classroom, yard and on the road, students will learn map-reading, trip-planning, Department of Transportation (DOT) rules/regulations/log books, and are trained in vehicle operation.
Applicants must be at least eighteen years of age, and able to pass a federal DOT physical and drug test to qualify.
Tuition is $3,875 and includes instruction, DOT physical and drug test. Job placement assistance is also available for those who successfully complete the training. Some may qualify for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding. Contact the Kentucky Career Center for qualification guidelines 859.292.6666.
