BBB Trends: Happy 4th — and remember you have a right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness — and fair treatment by businesses

This Fourth of July, Uncle Sam and BBB have a couple of reminders:

First, have a safe, happy holiday and enjoy your Independence Day activities!

Second, scammers may not take time off, but you deserve a day away from worry.

Keep your Fourth safe and scam-free with these tips:

1 Never give out your personal information to someone you don’t know.

2 Don’t buckle under pressure from a pushy door-to-door salesperson.

3 Ignore a call – on your cell or landline – if it comes from a number you’re unfamiliar with.

4 No matter how good it sounds, refuse a deal from a tricky telemarketer.

5 Shred your junk mail to cut down on identity theft.

6 Always check the credibility the company running a sale.

You have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You’re also entitled to be treated fairly by a business who believes in an ethical marketplace. Visit bbb.org to find an Accredited Business you can trust.
