On Saturday, Sept. 9, the Florence Freedom baseball team will play a potential playoff series clinching game 4 at home. They will also play the game for a purpose, with a minimum of 50 percent of the online ticket sales to benefit Hurricane Harvey victims.
The Freedom are calling it Playoffs for a Purpose.
Fans that purchase September 9 playoff tickets with the online special offer code of “Harvey” will receive a $5 discount, as well as a 50% kick-back to fund relief for the Houston, Texas area.
The September 9 game played at UC Health Stadium would be game 4 of the best of 5 divisional round series in the Frontier League playoffs, meaning there’s a chance it doesn’t happen if one team sweeps. In the event of game 4 not being necessary, the Freedom will donate 100% of the online ticket sale to hurricane victims, and include a complimentary ticket voucher to a 2018 Freedom game.
The Freedom clinched the Frontier League West Division championship on Sunday, August 27, the first in team history. The win made sure the Freedom will end the season as wire-to-wire champions, never spending a day out of first place.
The divisional round of the playoffs will begin on Tuesday, September 5 and Wednesday, September 6 with the team opening on the road, before returning home for game three of the series on Friday, September 8.
