Brianne Biedenharn of Erlanger is getting a head start on saving for college after participating in the Read. Save for College. Change the World. reading program, sponsored by the Kentucky Education Savings Plan Trust (KESPT) and the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA).
The Biedenharn family will be awarded a $1,000 KESPT college savings plan account on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., at the Kenton County Public Library, Erlanger Branch. at 401 Kenton Lands Road.
The Kenton County Public Library will also receive $500 to use for future reading programs.
The program encouraged students to continue to read through the summer. Winners were randomly selected from applications.
KESPT is Kentucky’s official Section 529 College Savings Plan. KESPT and the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA) teamed up to offer Read. Save for College. Change the World. to emphasize the importance of reading year-round and saving early for college.
Thousands of children participated at libraries across the state, and more than 4,500 families entered for a chance to win a KESPT college savings plan account.
Biedenharn was selected as one of eight winners from across Kentucky.
