The Governor’s Scholars Program celebrated another successful summer after closing the doors of its three 2017 summer sessions, one of which included Northern Kentucky University.
As the program marked an important 35th milestone, it is also reflecting upon the way in which the GSP has been making Kentucky’s future brighter since 1983 by emphasizing academic and intellectual excellence and growing tomorrow’s leaders.
As the GSP has grown, its core values have remained the same while also embracing that extraordinary intellect is most valuable in its capacity to effect positive change.
Governor’s Scholars provide the opportunity for roles of leadership in the future of Kentucky’s workforce that will allow them to directly and beneficially impact their communities.
The 2017 Governor’s Scholars are now members of the more than 29,000 alumni that have walked through the five-week summer intellectual experience.
The 1,078 graduates of the 2017 Program represent all areas of the Commonwealth: Eastern Kentucky (21.4%), Western Kentucky (23.0%), Northern Kentucky (13.5%), Central Kentucky (24.1%), and Jefferson County (18.0%).
Whether in business, the arts, education, or civic and economic matters, the missions and goals of the program address the future of the Commonwealth.
