Battaglia Selections for Saturday, March 10
RACE 1
HEAT ROAD was over-matched last time out but looked very impressive winning his two previous starts. A return to that form would make him tough to beat again tonight. TACHI moves back to one turn after a nice win last time out over the track. He’s won three of his last five starts here at Turfway and would be no surprise here. BEACH HUT comes in off a nice win against similar and definitely looks capable of winning again.
RACE 2
REAL DISCREET comes in off a nice maiden win in his second start over the track and is the choice for the win here. WHEN TH CATS AWAY has been second best in each of his last two starts and looks like the one to beat. CLEVER NOW shows two third-place finishes in his last two starts and is a threat.
RACE 3
OUR GORDIE has been idle since June when she broke her maiden in impressive fashion at Belterra. She drops to this bottom level for the first time tonight and will be tough to beat if she returns to her previous form. OUTLAWED hasn’t shown much in her last two starts but takes a big drop in class and could be dangerous here. ONLYATTHESHOE comes in off a solid effort in her second start over the track.
RACE 4
CHIFFRE drops in class after a nice effort against tougher last time out and rates a slight edge here. JIMMYS INTHE HOUSE didn’t fire in his debut but should move forward in his second start for Ward. COMEDY ZONE has been in the money in ten of sixteen career starts and can’t be left out of the gimmicks.
DOUBLE SENCE was no match for an impressive winner last time out in his first attempt over the surface here at Turfway. He has the speed to be well placed throughout; give him a slight edge in a wide open field. TAVERNONTHECROW has a win and two seconds in his last three starts at this level. He’s questionable at this distance but his best makes him a contender here. GIOVANTE has shown some decent form over the track recently and looks capable of running well again tonight.
RACE 6
PRINCE HANSEN had to need his last after having been off for nearly a year and could be tough to handle here on the drop in class for Maker. KING OFTHE CHANNEL comes in off a nice maiden win on the turf at Tampa and could be dangerous here if he takes to the Polytrack. MY FOOLISH BEAU was second at this level two starts back and is a contender.
RACE 7
ENLISTED MAN has shown some good form over the track recently with a win, two seconds and a third in his last five starts; give him a slight edge in a wide open field. REEDER comes in off a nice win and looks like the one to beat with Ouzts back in the irons. MACANAO and ROD MCLEOD start as a coupled entry and both look capable of running well here.
RACE 8
WOMAN OF LOVE shows three in-the-money finishes at this level in her last three starts and is the choice to pick up the maiden win here. ZUMAQUE didn’t show much in two starts at Gulfstream. She drops in class in her first start since moving to Davis’s barn and figures to move forward tonight. URAWESOMEBLOSSOM finished just behind the top pick last time out and looks like a contender.
