It’s official.
Opal Apples has declared Covington resident Angie Gillespe the grand prize winner of its nationwide SupercrispiOpalicious jingle contest. The contest, which launched last month, challenged fans to create and perform their own original song on video about how and why they love Opal Apples.
Angie’s original song “The First Time I Had An Opal Apple” was highly received by the Opal Apples’ panel of judges in terms of creativity and originality.
Voting then moved to the national public via the Opal Apples website from March 31 through April 14.
Gillespie was chosen by an Opal Apples panel of judges, based on a mix of public vote, musicality and originality.
She was awarded a trip for two to New York City, including round trip airfare, a three-night stay at the Kimberly Hotel, two Broadway show tickets, and a $1,200 pre-paid gift card for trip expenses and additional fun.
“We really enjoyed viewing all of the entries and were impressed by everyone’s creativity to capture Opal Apple’s crisp delicious taste and fun loving spirit in their song,” said Chuck Zeutenhorst, General Manager of FirstFruits Marketing.
“Angie’s entry really hit all the marks and we look forward to sharing her jingle with all of our Opal Apples fans across the country.”
Hilary L., the Second Place winner with her original song “Sunshine and Good Times,” was awarded a $500 gift card. Third place winner James F. received a $250 gift card with his song, “Opie’s Ode to the Opal Apple.” All entries can be viewed by visiting this link.
The contest invited fans across the country to create and perform an original song dedicated to the naturally non-browning, non-GMO apples. Contestants came from all corners of the country and were required to use the words “sweet,” “crispy,” “crisp,” “crunch,” “crunchy,” and/or “yellow” in a one-minute video that included a visible Opal Apple.
