Notre Dame Academy graduate Kennedy Baugh is enjoying an outstanding first season as a member of the Trine University softball team.
Baugh is currently hitting .357 with five home runs, and she owns a .700 slugging percentage. The freshman catcher has driven in 18 runs and she was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Position Athlete of the Week earlier this month.
She finished the week with an .833 batting average, an .857 on-base percentage and a 1.667 slugging percentage.
Baugh currently has six multi-hit games this season, including four three-hit performances. She drove in a career-high five runs during a 16-2 win against Coe (Iowa) College on March 6 by going 3-for-3 with a homer.
Trine is currently 24-8 overall, 7-5 in the MIAA. The Thunder compete at the NCAA Division III level. Trine is located in Angola, Indiana.
At Notre Dame last season, Baugh hit five home runs with 49 RBI. She was also named first team All-9th Region as the Pandas advanced to the state tournament.
As a junior at Notre Dame, Baugh hit a school-record .548 with 46 hits, 31 RBI and 34 runs scored. Her .994 fielding percentage is also a school record, and she started seven years of varsity softball for the Pandas.
In basketball, Baugh was a three-year varsity starter at Notre Dame and averaged 6.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per game as a senior.
