Three Boone County locations for Saturday’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Saturday

On Saturday, April 28, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, will participate in the 15th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at three locations throughout Boone County.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse and medications.

Unfortunately, drug abusers, who often times happen to be family members, have stolen, used, and at times, overdosed from unused medications left in medicine cabinets unbeknownst to the homeowner.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is a resource for getting those drugs out of the house and away from the possibility of being abused.

Sheriff Michael A. Helmig will have three collection points open in Boone County; The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Campus located at 3,000 Conrad Lane in Burlington, the Union City Building located at 1843 Mount Zion Road in Union, Kentucky and the Walton City Building located at 40 North Main Street in Walton, Kentucky. The Union & Walton sites will provide drive-up service.

Join Sheriff Helmig in his efforts to reduce the debilitating effects the illicit drug usage has had in Boone County and throughout all of the tristate area.  If you will take inventory and remove the unused – possibly deadly – drugs from your homes we will take care of the rest by the proper disposition of them.
