JESSE BREWER
Boone County Commissioner
District 3

My name is Jesse Brewer and I am running for County Commissioner – District 3. I have been a resident of Boone County for nearly two decades and I am proud to call it my home with my family. I am a small business owner and have been for several years. Currently, that business has about forty employees. I am pro-life and a supporter of 2nd amendment rights. I also believe in supporting the local economy, our schools as well as police and fire departments. I value property owner’s rights and demand full transparency of government in all of its dealings.

Jesse Brewer

I have children in all different grade levels and through them, I have had the privilege of getting to be involved not only with our excellent school teachers but also, I’ve had opportunities and still do, to help support local youth sports and other youth organizations in the area they are involved with. A few of my favorite activities have been teaching Junior Achievement at our elementary schools, being on a board for my son’s youth football organization and helping moderate academic team matches.

Prior to being a business owner, I was a police officer and served in the Army Reserves. It was this experience that helped lay the foundation for understanding the importance honor, duty, and community service. I have been involved with serving the community on several different fronts. This past year we’re able to have our 8th annual “Landlord Santa” program, in which we took 50 kids, all funded from private donations, shopping for winter necessities and holiday gifts.

This year I received a national award as a housing advocate by the national apartment association. Professionally for my industry, I have been able to publish several articles and books about the real estate market and investing. It is through my experience as a business owner and understanding of population and business trends that I am able to grasp the importance of infrastructure and being able to properly manage any type of growth.

While our county is blessed to have all that we have, the growth we have experienced and will continue to experience for years to come needs to be properly managed. Given my experience not only as a business owner, father and involved member of the community, I feel that I can help bring a positive impact to the fiscal court for this task. When elected to the fiscal court it will be my top priority to ensure that all citizens are not only heard but also respected and I will always vote the best interest of the people and not special interest groups that look for personal gain.

Our county population has grown and for better or worse has forever changed our county. Given that all of our fiscal court leadership has several years of incumbency it is time to change some of that leadership and bring in fresh perspectives and new ideas so that our county can continue to be one of the greatest in which to live. We are rich in history and tradition and our success is dependent upon not only preserving that but also understanding our ever-changing and growing needs and balancing the two.

CHRISTIAAN GILBERT
Constable in Grant County District 3

A Quick background.

My wife and I are members of Community Family Church in Independence.

I am a certified gunsmith. I am an ordained minister and photographer.

My wife and I had a photography business for several years.

I was a repairman for Cincinnati Bell Telephone, now retired.

Over the years, many overzealous people have been elected to the office of Constable, overreaching their authority and giving the office a bad reputation.

I believe we have great local law enforcement officers, so let the real law enforcement officers do the law enforcement.

Talking with people I have found that either, they do not know what a Constable is or they believe that the Office of Constable is no longer relevant.

The Office of Constable is in the Kentucky constitution, so removing it would be next to impossible.

I will do the next best thing. I will perform the duties of the office to the best of my ability. I want to give back to the county by helping the Sheriff’s Office get all the tools they need.

As you may know, unlike the Sheriff, Constables do not receive a salary. Constables do not have a budget or deputies. The Sheriff and the Constables can both receive service fees. Fees mostly for serving court papers like subpoenas.

The Sheriff’s office uses these fees to supplement their budget. Our previous Constable made over $50,000. That’s money that I feel should have gone to the Sheriff’s office.

If I am elected Constable, I will make sure all services and the accompanying fees are directed to the Sheriff’s office so they can have all the tools they need, to keep our county and our schools safer.
